Having taught research methods for library and information science for some years, and having spent a lot of time supervising and examining masters and PhD students, I was delighted when I found the first edition of Alison Pickard's book. This second edition builds on that and updates it. This text is sensible and practical without overlooking the metatheoretical assumptions underlying research activity. I particularly recommend the first chapter, which deals with major research paradigms in a straightforward, understandable way, laying a good basis for a discussion of the qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods methodologies. The methods discussed will be useful to researchers working in information science as well; as library studies.

I found this book to be highly useful. As someone who is interested in research but who never had a formal research class, a book like this filled in a lot of the gaps for me. Although I read it from cover to cover in order to write a review for Catholic Library World, I know that I will be going back to it for ideas on expanding my research. Research Methods in Information includes practical exercises that will help the researcher learn the concepts that the author presents. Pickard has a clear and effective writing style. This is an excellent introduction to research methods, and could be used as a textbook in a research methodology course. For anyone with children, I cannot recommend this book enough. One of the true, forgotten heroes of the faith, Bonhoeffer's story in recent years is gaining popularity. An excellent account of what God may require of us christians. This would be a must read if you want your children to keep in mind what is really important, and what counts for eternity. I look forward to meeting Bonhoeffer in heaven.

We read this as a church youth group over the summer, and it was appropriate for middle schoolers. However, it was a little too easy of a read for our high schoolers. It was a good adaptation for youth, with lots of interesting tidbits, explanations, and discussion questions at the end of each chapter. The book was great in exposing our youth to some modern day Christian heroes!

Such an important read; I'm thankful Mr. Metaxas has made this accessible to students. I had my middle schooler read it before her trip to D.C. and the Holocaust Museum.

I really enjoyed the book. It brings a lot of connection with history and spirituality. Helps on what happened in the Second World War to the germans that were not Nazis.

The original Metaxas Boenhoeffer Bio was fantastic. This student edition provides the perfect biography about this Christian martyr who stood against the Nazi machine in Germany responsible for the Holocaust. Each chapter has questions for reflection.

Wow. I knew this man was a hero, but after reading the book in piques not just your interest in his life, but that of other countries and ethnicities. Incredible story and told so well by the author.

I read this book to my homeschoolers, aged 9 and 10. We love this book so much and my kids have more interest in WW 2 and history and geography.

Got this for my kiddos. My oldest (12) loved it.
